Basic Description of Vinyl Sleeve and Its Common Uses

A vinyl sleeve is made of two sections of plastic particularly PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) material which are sealed fastened together using radio frequency or heat. Only the three sides of the two pieces are sealed together. The fourth side is left open to create a holder structure. Vinyl sleeves are intended for these common usage: exhibit presentation materials, store collector's items; and, hold documents.

Vinyl sleeves intended for archiving of documents. However, it is very important to remember that most plastic are not safe for archival use. So, be very choosy in picking the right vinyl sleeve. Choose the one that's made of the proper and safe materials. Vinyl sleeves and envelopes are made of clear plastic that have various colors, sizes and thickness. Usually the thickness ranges from 6 gauge to 10 gauge.  The color and the material finish depends on the application of the sleeve.  A vinyl sleeve is generally used for the following:

Exhibit presentation materials

Vinyl sleeves are best materials to use for presentations. Your presentation can look really attractive if you use the polished and clear ones. A polished look gives an impression that shiny items are classy and valuable, while dull ones would show otherwise.  This explains why photographers use glossy paper since it adds an attractive effect on the photos. Since, you are not going to employ glossy paper like that of a photographer then it's just fitting to use polished sleeves to cover your documents giving everyone who looks at them the impression that they are worth reading.

Store collector's items

vinyl envelopes are designed to hold collector's items such as coins, stamps, documents, and other things that you consider as collectibles. These envelopes cost less and are ideal for these items because they give a light, watertight, and lasting protection. While protecting your items in this manner, a vinyl envelope less likely creates any distorted look. Protection on your valuable collection is a primary goal of  a vinyl envelope. It protects collectibles from any damage caused by spills or humidity. One thing to bear in mind when storing collectibles is to use acid free materials to ensure that your photos and other priceless pieces of collection will not get damaged. If you intend to use the envelope for photos, it is advisable to use a vinyl envelope made of polyethylene, polyester, polypropylene, and acid free vinyl materials. These will hinder the transfer of the image to the plastic.

Hold documents

A vinyl sleeve is useful in holding business materials such as menu lists and business cards. It is also great for holding important documents like certificates, forms, etc. By using sleeves, it allows ease and convenience in viewing what's written on the documents without having to touch them directly. This will lessen the possibility of destroying easily the paper or documents.
