Who Pays for the Groomsmen Suits

As to who will pay for the groomsmen's gifts is a common question that solicits different answers. Since there is no definite ruling, the decision will depend on the following factors namely: tradition, location, budget, and preference.

As we all know, wedding is an expensive celebration with so many things to spend on from the wedding rings, food caterer, invitations and the like. When it comes to the suits and gowns of the whole entourage, the decision on who should pay depends on the following factors:

Tradition

In some cases, traditions play an important role in determining who should pay for the entire expenses for the celebration. It is their belief that in order for the blessings to come back in three-folds, the couples should be generous enough to share whatever they have to the wedding participants.

Location

The one responsible for the groomsmen's suits and bridesmaid's gowns depends on what has been practiced within their community. It differs from one location to another. In western countries, it is common for the wedding entourage to shoulder the expenses on suits, gowns, airfare, accommodation and even on accessories. While in other countries, it is a custom that the couple should pay for all necessary expenditures.

Budget

Other determining factor as to who should pay is the allocated budget. For couples who have a tight budget, the attendees are just being sensitive enough to bear all the necessary expenses. Since they are aware of the financial capacity of the couples, it is understood that they will be responsible for everything. However if you are blessed with all the bounties in life, initiative will tell you to shoulder the total expenses incurred. Since this is your wedding and you are the ones who invited them, it is proper to make the gesture of paying for the expenditure.

Preference

Most of the time, personal preference of the couple still prevails. If the couple decide to accept full responsibilities over the whole entourage, it is certain enough that their decision will be followed.
