6 Important Factors to Consider in Choosing the Right Kitchen Bar Stools

When it comes to choosing the right kitchen bar stools, always remember these 7 important factors: space, comfort, quality, quantity, design or style, and its use.

Bar stools are traditional forms of furniture. They have always been popular over the ages as simple and common furniture in the kitchen. Today, they have always remained that way but rather than giving comfort to family and guest during meals, they have become a special kitchen decor to add classical style to the space.

Like everyone else, we always want the perfect bar stools for our kitchen.  When choosing the right bar stools, always bear in mind the following factors:

Space

The first thing you should consider is the space you have in your kitchen. This will enable you to know the quantity and sizes of bar stools you need, or if you really need to add some of it. A large kitchen may need some additional furniture as long as it doesn’t get too crowded or get too difficult for you, your family and your guests to swivel and move around.

Height of the bar

The height of your bar stool shouldn’t be too high or too low for your bar because this brings about discomfort while eating or preparing meals. The best thing you should do is measure the height of your kitchen table or bar. A good bar stool should be 1 – 1 ½ feet shorter than the kitchen table or bar.

Comfort

This probably is one of the most important things to keep in mind. Make sure that the bar stool gives the best comfort to the person who will be seating on it.  You can have ones that already have cushions on it. Also allow 12 inches from the top of the stool cushion to the bottom of the table/counter, and at least 30 inches between one bar stool to the next. This would allow you or your guests to swivel around or cross their legs.

Quality

Choose materials for your bar stools that would last for a long period of time. Choose ones that are made of hard wood, plastic or metal. Bar stools made of durable materials can help you save money from constant fixing or buying new ones.

Quantity

Decide on how many bar stools you want to have. Also remember that it’s never wise to give up some good space for a stylish yet crowded living quarter.

Design or Style

Bar stools made up of wood, plastic, steel, acrylic, metal & wrought iron each have their own unique designs and styles that can brighten up the kitchen. Decide on what design you would want to have or what would match best to your kitchen’s theme or design. Also choose if it should be swivel or non swivel, with or without backs and with or without armrests. If you choose to have arms on your bar stools make sure that the top of the arms can slide under the bar or counter.
