To a load a dump truck, you should park on level ground, check the bed and dump gate, position the loader with the bucket parallel to the ground’s angle, drive the loader forward and start operating the bucket, fill the bucket with material, lift the bucket, start raising the bucket while driving toward the dump truck, start dumping the material but make sure that it is dumped properly in the bed’s center and keep track of the number of bucket scoops you have made.
Dump trucks are designed to carry and dump heavy loads of various materials. A hydraulic loader tractor with a bucket is used to load contents into a dump truck. This tractor is operated with the help of hydraulic components called wet kits. Here are some steps you can follow to properly load a dump truck:
Park on level ground
The dump truck should be parked on level ground. The parking brake should be engaged once a suitable location been found.
Check the bed and dump gate
After parking the dump truck, make sure to check the bed of the dump truck to assure it has been lowered completely. The dump gate should also be checked so that its chain and locks are completely fastened and locked securely in place.
Position the loader with the bucket parallel to the ground’s angle
The loader has to be driven to the area where the materials to be loaded are found. Position the loader in such a way that the bucket is parallel to the ground’s angle.
Drive the loader forward and start operating the bucket
Set the bucket towards the ground and start driving the loader in the direction of the materials. Give the loader gas to allow it to dig into the debris that you need to load.
Fill the bucket with material
Fill the bucket with material by pulling the lever that is used for rolling its open part upward. Keep pulling until the bucket has been filled with the debris.
Lift the bucket
After the bucket is filled with material, it needs to be lifted up. Do this by using the bucket-lifting lever. Lift the bucket until the distance between its bottom and the ground is 3 feet.
Start raising the bucket while driving to the dump truck
Drive the loader towards the dump truck. The bucket has to be centered relative to the center of the dump truck’s bed. Start raising the bucket while driving towards the dump truck. Be sure to slow down and stop before you have reached the side of the dump truck. The bucket has to be lifted high above the wall of the dump truck bed.
Start dumping the material properly into the bed’s center
Let the loader roll forward and stop when the bucket is positioned over the center line. Start dumping the materials into the truck bed slowly. You may need to drive forward and backward in order to make sure that the material is properly dumped in the bed’s center. Continue this step until the bed is filled with the material.
Keep track of the number of bucket scoops made
Remember to keep track of how many scoops of material dump. You should also keep track of the weight of the dump truck’s axles to make sure that they do not exceed the appropriate axle weight limit. Do the same for the gross weight of the vehicle.
Proper loading of a dump truck is important to safely transport and dump the contents of the dump truck.
