When loading a dump truck, you need to park on a level surface, examine the bed as well as the dump gate, drive the loader in which the bucket must be aligned to the ground's angle, operate the bucket after driving the loader forward, load materials into the bucket, pick up the bucket, drive the dump truck while raising the bucket, throw into the bed's center the material properly, and always count the scoops made.
Dump trucks are designed to carry and dump heavy loads of various materials. A hydraulic loader tractor with a bucket is used to load contents into a dump truck. Hydraulic components known as wet kits help operate this tractor. Here are some steps you can follow to properly load a dump truck:
Park on level ground
Park the dump trunk on even ground. The parking brake should be engaged once a suitable location has been found.
Examine the bed as well as the dump gate
Remember to check the bed of the dump truck to assure it has been completely lowered after parking. You should also check the dump gate to confirm that the chain and locks are fastened properly in place.
Align the loader with the bucket parallel to the ground's angle
Drive the loader to the area where you can find the materials to be loaded into the truck. Make sure, that when you position the loader, the tractor's bucket should be parallel to the angle of the ground.
Initiate operation of the bucket after driving the loader forward
Advance the loader towards the materials after lowering the bucket to the ground. Dig into the debris that you need to load by stepping on the gas of the loader.
Load materials into the bucket
Pulling the lever used for moving the open part upwards will allow the bucket to be filled with materials. You are to keep pulling and stop only when the bucket is filled with debris.
Pick up the bucket
Once filled with materials, pull the bucket upwards. Use the bucket-lifting lever to do this. Lift the bucket until the bottom is 3 feet above the ground.
Raise the bucket while driving the dump truck
Drive the loader in the direction of the dump truck. Position the bucket relative to the center of the dump truck's bed. While driving towards the dump truck, start raising the bucket. Before reaching the side of the dump truck, slow down and stop. The bucket has to be lifted high above the wall of the dump truck bed.
Throw into the bed's center the material properly
Once the bucket is above the center line, stop the advancing loader from rolling forward. Start dumping the materials into the truck bed slowly. Properly drop the materials in the bed's center by either driving forward and backward. Repeat this step until the bed is full of the material.
Keep track of the number of bucket scoops made
It is important to keep a record of the number of bucket scoops made. You should also make sure that the truck's axle's weight does not exceed its allowable weight limit. The gross weight of the vehicle should also be monitored in the same way.
Proper loading of a dump truck is important to safely transport and dump the contents of the dump truck.
