To conceal your audio-video equipment, you can use trompe l'oeil-style artwork to distract viewers, place your AV equipment under a skirted table, or store everything in a closet.
You may find that audio-video (AV) equipments or electronics like gaming consoles, speakers, television, and DVD players can easily make a room unsightly. The wiring and cables can become a tangled mess or the equipment simply looks out of place in the room's decor. But, this is something that you shouldn't be worried about. You can now hide your audio video equipment with just a few simple methods.
Use trompe l'oeil-style artwork to distract viewers
The art style known as trompe l'oeil deceives viewers into believing an image is real. This is a great trick to conceal devices and their unsightly wires, and it can even divert the attention of your guests. There are framed trompe l'oeil posters and art pieces available that you can use to decorate the room containing your AV equipment. You can either place the artwork directly in front of the equipment to completely hide it from view or you can hang the art behind your equipment as a background. The distinctive bright and strong imagery can easily shift the viewer's attention from objects found in the foreground.
Place your AV equipment under a skirted table
If all of your AV equipment is stored in one area; this is a practical method for you. You can make use of a table covered with a long drape to hide all your electronics. Find an end table or rolling table and arrange your AV equipment underneath it. It is also important to coordinate the color theme and style of the room when selecting a table skirt. This shouldn't be very hard since there are varieties of table skirts in various colors, fabrics, and textures. Lay the cloth on top of the table and let it hang down in order to conceal the electronic items beneath. This will not only conceal your audio video equipment, but it will also give you additional storage and display spaces.
Store everything in a closet
You can even store all of your AV equipment in a nearby closet. Look for a sturdy one which is also large enough to fit everything you want it to hide. Clean out any dust and wipe surfaces that can damage your electronics prior to placing all of them in the closet. Instead of directly putting your electronic equipment on the closet shelves, you can also use a dolly and stack everything on it. This way, you can easily roll everything out or roll it all back inside the closet when no longer needed. Drilling holes in the closet will allow the wires to pass through. Additionally, you may also put in more shelves so that you can easily store your music or other small tools, and lighting to make handling and operating of equipment more convenient for you. Your closet may now be your home's audio video center.
Once your AV equipment is hidden away, it would no longer ruin the overall appearance of your room. Just be certain that the way you hide your equipment is not giving you any inconveniences.
